ChatGPT Ads Management for International B2B
ChatGPT now shows ads to Free and Go users in the markets where it has launched; the EEA and Switzerland joined on August 24, 2026. The channel is real, young, and thinly measured. We run ChatGPT Ads the way we run every paid channel: measurement wired before any money moves, and a written verdict on fit before any budget is committed.
Where ChatGPT Ads run as of August 2026
ChatGPT Ads are the placements OpenAI sells inside ChatGPT conversations: a text unit under a Sponsored label, a single-product shopping unit built from a product feed, and a multi-product carousel. They can appear for users on the Free and Go plans, including logged-out ChatGPT, never for accounts OpenAI identifies as belonging to users under 18, and only in the markets where the channel has launched. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education stay ad-free.
Buying ChatGPT Ads means paying for that labeled Sponsored placement. Being cited organically inside the answer is a different discipline with different levers, and our AI marketing service covers that one; COSEOM® runs both, as separate services. Our verdict on the paid side: for many international B2B sellers this deserves a measured pilot, funded on top of Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads rather than moved out of them. We answer the rollout dates, buying lanes and the EEA and Swiss rules below, and the step-by-step buying detail is in our guide to advertising on ChatGPT.
You get a verdict first, then a measured pilot
A verdict before a budget
We tell you plainly whether ChatGPT Ads fit your ICP today, even when the answer is wait. The channel is too young for anyone to promise outcomes, so what we promise is an honest read, in writing, before you commit a cent.
Presence where buyers evaluate
The Sponsored unit sits under answers in the exact problem conversations your buyers are having. That is evaluation-stage reach: your offer appears while someone is working through the problem you solve, on the Free and Go tiers where the ads run.
Numbers your CFO can trust
A strict UTM convention on every ad, the OpenAI Pixel and Conversions API wired, results read in your CRM. Platform screenshots flatter every channel; CRM rows do not. The context hints we test and what a click costs in your category are documented and handed over, so the learning stays with you.
Four steps that put measurement before spend
This is the same discipline we apply across our International PPC work, adapted to a platform that reports only aggregates and ships changes monthly.
Fit check and pilot design
Your ICP against the Free and Go audience, your category against OpenAI's ad policies, and a pilot budget with its success metric agreed in writing before anything else happens.
Tracking wired and verified
UTM convention, OpenAI Pixel plus Conversions API, a GA4 custom channel group and isolated landing paths. Nothing launches until test events land where they should. The full measurement detail is in our ChatGPT ads analytics guide.
Hints and creative from real buyer language
Context hints written from actual buyer conversations, never from a keyword list, and documented one by one so you can see exactly what we ran and why. Copy and image are built for the setting they appear in, with character limits respected. For product-led offers we build the product feed too; for pure service offers we skip it and say so.
Weekly reporting, monthly re-checks
Platform metrics joined to CRM truth every week, spend pacing watched closely (under-delivery is a reported channel risk), and a monthly re-check of availability and features, because the platform moves monthly and the plan moves with it.
The record we bring to a channel this young
Here is the sentence no one selling this service likes to say: no agency on earth has years of ChatGPT Ads results. The inventory is months old in the US, and the EEA and Switzerland opened on August 24, 2026. Anyone claiming a long ChatGPT Ads track record in a market that just opened is telling you something about themselves.
What COSEOM® brings instead is the part that transfers: tracking architecture, CRM-joined reporting, budget pacing and creative testing under tight format constraints, all proven on $15M+ in managed budget. That is exactly what a young, thinly instrumented channel needs most.
ChatGPT Ads beside Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads
Most of our clients already run Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads, so the practical question is where this channel sits next to them. As of September 2026:
| Dimension | ChatGPT Ads | Google Ads | LinkedIn Ads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Targeting | Context hints: natural-language, contextual, written per ad group; custom audiences from your own lists outside the EEA and Switzerland | Keywords plus audiences | Job title, firmographics, ABM lists |
| Intent signal | A live problem conversation | An active search query | Professional identity |
| Measurement | Aggregated reporting, OpenAI Pixel plus Conversions API | Mature: click IDs, query reports, third-party verification | Mature: lead gen forms, CRM integrations |
| B2B reach | Free and Go plans, including logged-out ChatGPT; the paid tiers see no ads | Anyone searching your keywords | Self-reported professional identity |
| Maturity | Live since February 2026, EU from August 24, 2026, features shipping monthly | Mature after two decades | Mature |
The common agency read, which we share after weighing what the table shows: ChatGPT Ads complement Google and LinkedIn rather than replacing either. Fund it with incremental budget and give it its own learning goal. Moving budget out of channels with mature measurement into one without it trades proof for novelty.
When our answer is wait
A service page claiming a months-old channel fits everyone has already told you how much to trust it. Four situations where we advise against a pilot right now, and if you would rather reach your own verdict first, our ChatGPT Ads readiness scorecard scores you against the same criteria in about twenty minutes:
- Narrow single-market EU audiences. EEA and Swiss inventory opened on August 24, 2026. If your buyers sit in one small market and one language, reach there still has to build up. We would rather you wait than pay to learn that.
- Categories OpenAI prohibits or restricts. Per OpenAI's ad policies: gambling, tobacco and nicotine, recreational drugs, alcohol, political campaigning, adult content and certain financial products are out, while financial, health and legal services are approved case by case in the US and generally prohibited outside it. US fintech advertisers should budget time for that review, and check the live policy page before planning.
- Boards that require user-level attribution. OpenAI reports aggregated campaign metrics only, by design. If your board needs user-level proof per channel, this channel cannot give it yet, and we say so before you spend rather than after.
- Budgets that cannot be learning budgets. A pilot here needs a defined window and a success metric agreed up front. If every dollar must perform from day one, put it into the mature channels first.
Straight answers to the questions buyers ask
Does ChatGPT have ads?
Yes. OpenAI began showing ads to US users on February 9, 2026, then extended the rollout to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Mexico, Brazil, Japan and South Korea, and from August 24, 2026 to 31 European countries. Ads can appear for users on the Free and Go plans, including logged-out ChatGPT, and never for accounts OpenAI identifies as belonging to users under 18; Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education stay ad-free.
How do you run ads on ChatGPT?
There are two buying lanes. Where the self-serve Ads Manager is open, you build campaigns yourself: it opened in beta in the US on May 5, 2026 and in Europe, India, the Middle East and North Africa on August 31, 2026. The other lane runs through the OpenAI Ads Solutions team and its agency and technology partners, which was the only route at the European launch on August 24, 2026.
How much do ChatGPT Ads cost?
OpenAI publishes no rate card. Independent reports through mid-2026 put CPMs between $25 and $60, and for CPC campaigns OpenAI recommends starting with a maximum bid of $3 to $5 per click. Self-serve campaigns carry a minimum daily budget set by billing currency, which OpenAI lists as $25, €15 or £15. We treat these as starting points, never benchmarks, and confirm real costs inside your pilot.
What targeting do ChatGPT Ads offer?
The targeting you control is mostly contextual. You write natural-language context hints at ad-group level and the system matches them against the conversation, within the locations and platforms you choose. Outside the EEA and Switzerland you can also upload customer or prospect lists as custom audiences, then include, exclude or bid differently on the people who match, with 25,000 matched users as OpenAI's planning threshold for inclusion. As of September 2026, OpenAI documents location, platform and custom audience targeting plus context hints; job-title, demographic, firmographic, lookalike and website retargeting audiences are not among the documented options. Reporting shows impressions, clicks, spend and conversions, broken down by country and device. In the EEA and Switzerland, OpenAI’s help center says personalized ads are not initially available, and its Europe privacy policy shows generic ads to users who do not consent to personalized advertising.
Is ChatGPT advertising a fit for B2B?
Sometimes, and it depends on your ICP. The upside is evaluation-stage reach: the Sponsored unit appears under answers to the problems your buyers are working through. The caveat: if your decision-makers use the ad-free upper tiers, they will not see these ads. We check both sides against your ICP and recommend a pilot only when the case holds.
Are ChatGPT Ads available in the EU?
Yes, from August 24, 2026. The launch covers 31 countries: every EU member state, the rest of the EEA, and Switzerland. The launch is contextual: OpenAI’s help center says personalized ads are not initially available, its Europe privacy policy shows generic ads to users who do not consent to personalized advertising, and custom audiences are not available for campaigns there. Campaigns ran through the OpenAI Ads Solutions team and partners at first, and the self-serve Ads Manager opened in Europe in beta on August 31, 2026.
How do you measure ChatGPT Ads?
With the platform's native metrics plus our own layer: the OpenAI Pixel and Conversions API for conversions, a strict UTM convention, and your CRM as the source of truth. OpenAI reports aggregated campaign metrics only, by design, so we plan around that limit instead of promising user-level attribution the channel cannot deliver.
Is buying ChatGPT Ads the same as being cited in ChatGPT answers?
No. Ads are the labeled Sponsored unit below the answer, bought and measured like media. Being cited inside the answer itself is organic AI visibility, a separate discipline with separate levers, and OpenAI states that ads do not influence answers. COSEOM® offers both: this page covers the paid side, our AI marketing service covers citations.
Channels that carry the rest of the funnel
Start with the fit check
Two lines about who you sell to and where are enough. A senior paid media specialist at COSEOM® replies personally with a concrete read: whether your audience is reachable on ChatGPT Ads yet, what a sensible pilot costs, and how we would measure it. If the honest answer is wait, that is the answer you get. Prefer to talk first? Every office and contact option is on our contact page.
