01 · Definition

What MSP marketing covers

MSP marketing is the work of winning new managed services contracts for an IT provider: paid search, SEO, LinkedIn and content aimed at the owners, IT leads and finance heads who choose a provider. As an MSP marketing agency, COSEOM® runs these channels as one plan and reports on qualified pipeline, not clicks.

02 · The problem

Where MSP lead generation gets stuck

We hear the same three things from IT providers that want to grow past their local referral network. Here is what we change for each.

"Most of our new clients still come from referrals"

Referrals are good leads, but you can't turn them up when you want to grow. We build search and LinkedIn campaigns that reach buyers who have never heard of you, and track which of them turn into pipeline.

"We get five-seat offices, not the accounts we want"

Broad ads and a bare contact form fill the calendar with small offices. Your campaigns get narrowed by sector, location and a list of the companies you want, and the form asks the questions that tell sales which leads fit.

"Regulated prospects ask questions our site can't answer"

A clinic, a defense supplier or a financial firm wants to know how you handle their compliance before they book a call. We publish pages that answer those questions and the ads for those buyers link straight to them.

03 · Services

MSP marketing services, channel by channel

Each channel feeds one B2B lead generation program, with one set of numbers for all of them. If you sell managed security services, our cybersecurity marketing agency page covers that buyer.

Google Ads and Microsoft Ads

Search campaigns for the terms buyers use when they are ready to change provider, such as managed IT services or co-managed IT in their city or sector. CRM tracking is set up before launch. Part of our B2B PPC services.

LinkedIn Ads for IT and finance leads

LinkedIn lets us target job title, seniority and a company list together, so your ads reach the IT leads, finance heads and owners at the companies you choose. See our LinkedIn Ads management.

MSP SEO for local and regional search

Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and popularity. We work on your Google Business profiles, a page for each location and managed service, and the technical fixes behind them, through our B2B SEO services.

Your MSP named in AI answers

When a buyer asks ChatGPT or Google's AI Overviews to recommend an MSP, we want your company in the answer. We measure how often you are named with our Share of Answer report and work on the pages and listings those answers cite. That is our GEO agency work.

Account-based campaigns for named targets

Give us a list of target accounts, such as multi-site firms in your region. We reach them with LinkedIn and retargeting campaigns and track them as they move into your pipeline. Built on our account-based demand generation.

Content for each service and regulation

Service pages, compliance guides and case studies written for owners and IT leads, not for other engineers. Research and interviews with your team come before the first draft. See our B2B content writing.

04 · Compliance and sales cycle

Selling to regulated and multi-site buyers

The accounts worth the most to an MSP are often the ones with the most rules to follow. Campaigns for them are planned around who signs, when they can switch and what they have to check first.

More than one person decides

We plan for several readers: the owner or CEO, the IT lead, the finance lead and, in regulated firms, the compliance lead. Each one gets ads and pages that answer their own question, from cost to security controls.

Contracts set the calendar

A prospect who is mid-contract with another provider won't switch this month. Retargeting and nurture keep you in front of them, so you are on the shortlist when the renewal comes up.

Compliance checks come before the call

An MSP that maintains or transmits protected health information on behalf of a covered entity can be a HIPAA business associate. The FTC Safeguards Rule tells covered financial firms to assess their service providers. Some buyers also ask for a SOC 2 report.

One campaign per regulated segment

Defense suppliers, healthcare and financial firms each get their own campaign, ad copy and landing page, built on the evidence you can show: your certifications, your audit reports and how you handle their data. Your compliance claims come from you and your auditors.

05 · How we work

An MSP marketing plan, in the order we run it

How quickly it pays off depends on your market, your services and your sales cycle, so we don't set a date. The order of the work doesn't change.

  1. 01

    Targets and tracking come first

We agree with you on which accounts fit (sector, sites, seats, compliance needs) and what counts as a qualified lead. Then we get access to your ad accounts, analytics and CRM and set up tracking before any budget goes live.

  2. 02

Launch search, LinkedIn and the pages buyers need

Search campaigns go live for the services and locations you want to grow, LinkedIn reaches your target accounts, and we publish or rewrite the service and compliance pages the ads send people to.

  3. 03

Keep what brings pipeline, cut the rest

Once leads reach your CRM, we compare channels by cost per qualified lead and by the opportunities they create. Budget moves to what works. SEO and visibility in AI answers take longer to build and run alongside the paid work.

06 · Proof

What IT and cloud providers say on Clutch

Together with the team at Daymark Solutions, we ran lead generation and content marketing for their cloud solutions business. In their Clutch review, their COO reports a 500% improvement in the number of leads generated and a 75% increase in website traffic, and writes: "Their subject matter expertise was tremendous, and communication was excellent."

Together with the marketing and demand-generation team at ClearDATA, a healthcare cloud company, we built top-of-funnel acquisition through Google Ads and LinkedIn that fed qualified leads into their nurture programs. A Content Strategy Manager at an IT company, reviewing our SEO work on Clutch, writes: "They were able to adapt to our changing needs and provided valuable insights on improving our processes."

07 · FAQ

Questions MSP owners ask before hiring an agency

How do I find a marketing agency for my MSP?

Ask three things. Has the agency worked with IT or cloud providers, and can a client confirm the results in a public review? Will it report on qualified pipeline rather than clicks and form fills? Does it know the compliance questions your buyers ask, such as HIPAA or SOC 2? Then ask who does the work each week, and whether the ad accounts and their data stay yours.

How do I market my MSP business beyond referrals?

Start with the buyers who are already looking: search campaigns for the services and locations you want to grow, and a Google Business profile for each office. Add LinkedIn for the accounts that aren't searching yet. Then publish the pages those buyers need, one for each managed service and one for each compliance framework your clients follow, so your ads and your SEO have somewhere to send them.

Should an MSP use Google Ads or LinkedIn to find mid-market clients?

Often both, with different jobs. Google Ads captures companies that are looking for a new provider now. LinkedIn reaches IT leads, finance heads and owners at the accounts you choose, before they search. We start with the channel your budget can test properly, add the second once tracking shows cost per qualified lead, and move budget to whichever brings more accounts that fit. Our free B2B PPC Self-Audit Scorecard is a quick first check of your Google Ads.

What is a good cost per lead for an MSP?

There's no fair single number. It depends on your location, the services you sell, your contract values and how strictly you define a qualified lead. A cheap lead from a five-seat office can cost you more than an expensive one from a multi-site account. We set the target from your contract values and close rate, and judge channels on cost per qualified lead and cost per opportunity.

How long does MSP marketing take to show results?

Paid search and LinkedIn can bring leads once campaigns and tracking are live, but judging them on signed contracts takes at least one full sales cycle. SEO and visibility in AI answers take longer and build over time. We don't promise dates. We agree the order of work and the numbers we report on, and go through them with you in a monthly report.

Can you help an MSP win regulated or government clients?

Yes, on the marketing side. We build campaigns and pages for buyers who have to check their providers: HIPAA covered entities, for whom an MSP that maintains or transmits protected health information on their behalf can be a business associate; and financial firms under the FTC Safeguards Rule. Your compliance claims come from you and your auditors, never from us.

How much does an MSP marketing agency cost?

It depends on the scope: how many locations and services you market, which channels you use, how much content you need and how much tracking has to be set up first. We scope it after the strategy call, once we know which accounts you want to win. The ad accounts stay in your name, and the data stays yours.

Will ChatGPT and Google's AI answers recommend my MSP?

Nobody can promise that. What we can do is run your buyers' questions through ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and other engines, record who gets named and which pages get cited, and work on the gaps we find: vague service pages, missing facts, and directory or review profiles that are thin or out of date. Our free AI Visibility Snapshot shows where you stand today.
